INCREASE BIRTH DEFECTS
Feb 9, 2006 - A study in the NEJM noted a 6 fold increase in pulmonary hypertension in newborns whose mothers were on Prozac. Balmville, NY Medical Malpractice Attorneys
Medical malpractice is a much greater problem than most
people realize. A Harvard Medical School study found that
over 5% of all hospital patients were injured as a result of
medical malpractice. While these medical malpractice
statistics are alarming, it is even more disturbing that
these statistics do not even include medical malpractice
deaths that have occurred in clinics, private doctors
offices, or other treatment facilities.
Medical Malpractice occurs when there is a deviation from
the accepted standard of care in the community or locality
where the doctor or hospital is located. It is considered
medical malpractice, not because of unforeseen
complications, but rather if the complications were the
result of improper care and treatment. By failing to
properly diagnose an illness or condition, such as cancer,
in a timely manner can be considered medical negligence. We
provide the highest level of legal expertise for Balmville,
New York medical malpractice cases.

Just as the decisions and behavior of a physician may be
considered medical negligence, other healthcare providers
may also be held accountable for their actions. The
negligent health care provider may not be the doctor, nurse
or a member of the staff. It is possible that the individual
is a lab or x-ray technician with certain qualifications for
operating advanced medical equipment or interpreting results
of tests.
A statute of limitations applies to medical malpractice claims, placing time limits on the
amount of time families have to pursue a
